Make Do March day 18: dishcloths...you can never have too many

right?
In my humble opinion, you can never have too many dishcloths...however they are way too expensive! Who wants to spend $2.50 or more on a cloth you're going to get dirty? Never made sense to me.

Last summer I was at a garage sale where they were selling yarn and lots of it. They had these skeins of cotton yarn for .50 a piece. Around here you're not going to find that yarn on sale at Joann's or Micheal's without spending at least $2.00. So I got a bunch...it may have been overkill, but such is life:)

Well I've been making dishcloths out of them! I've found that the tighter the crochet stitch the better. Easier for scrubbing! I can get two dishcloths out of one skein of yarn...which equals only $.25 per dishcloth...much more affordable.

They aren't anything special, but they get the job done! I've been meaning to make more, but didn't get to it until recently!

They are also great wedding shower gifts! Combine some of these with a bottle of dish soap--because really it's usually something the bride and groom will have to buy later!

Hope you're having fun Making Do!

Whirlwind Wedding

It's been a long times since a post...but we've been busy bees and soo will have a lot to share! Well at least when I get around to photographing it all :) Here are some pictures of some of the stuff I've been up too:
The daughter of a co-worker of mine got marriend recently and she was at a loss for what to do for flowers and the cake. So my friend Krista and I offered to make cupcakes, I did the flowers, and Krista was the photographer. I didn't get any shots of what I did before the wedding, so I stole some of Krista's a.m.a.z.i.n.g photos to show off the work....

This is the bride and groom...yes she wore black and he wore white...but she's holding the bouquet I made, and those are some awesome black feathers around the base:)
Near the feet are the flower arangements that I did....gotta love spray paint and sticks from the woods....oh and sugar to look like sand. Hey, I work with what I got:)
This is the cake and cupcakes we made...they got a cake topper we didn't know about, but it ended up being pretty dang cute....and the cake stand was made out of chargers and candlesticks...woot woot for Value Village!

Aren't the pictures fabulous? This was the first wedding/people Krista  ever shot with a borrowed camera...not to shabby in my humble opinion:)

We will be posting about our other endeavors...but we're kinda in panic mode with two craft shows coming up and the NEED for more inventory!

Happy Sewing!
