pardon me...

As I've mentioned before, my best friend Chelsea had her first baby! Kalli Faith...super cute baby with a large mop of black hair.

Well I've been making some things for Chels and finally sent the package off...it only took...oh FOREVER, but that's how I roll...

I made her some really cute burp rags. I had some great pink/girl fabric in my stash as well as some really soft flannel that I used to make the burp cloths.

They are simple but cute and I think will be use often!

The top fabric is my favorite, but I really like all of the fabrics!

I hope Chelsea likes them...as I'm sure she'll need them plenty:)

Make Do March Day 27: somebody loves you

My best friend Chelsea is having her first baby in about a week!  I really wish I could be there when the little one is born...but she'll have to deal with getting lots of packages in the mail....shucks:) I decided to make a onesie that had a special phrase on it...I've had the onesie for months...but haven't done it.  So it was time.

I found an outline of Alaska at school and made a reverse photo copy of it...then I put the letters on and copied it again.

I cut the transfer to be smaller....so it was easier to work with, and then used the CitraSolv to transfer the image.

and

it didn't work...it look terrible! I frantically tried to get the transfer off the onsie....I actually used CitraSolv to get the transfer off. It worked but you could still see some of the stuff on the onsie. I thought I ruined it.

but 

I figured out how to cover it up!

I used the same photo copy and transferred it onto...da da da da!!! Fusible webbing!

I then took one side off, and put it on a pink fabric.

Ta-da! A unique and lovingly made onsie for the little one in Minnesota!

I also put a little heart on the butt....so cute!

What do you think? I hope she likes it, and I hope the little one knows she is very loved by her "Auntie" in Alaska!

Now...I told you about a steak marinade on Sunday. It was TASTY! I don't really like steak. But I liked this. IT was really good. We're keeping it  and will use it again!

Make Do March Day 8: curtain call

Early last summer, we bought some curtains at Value Village...we bought them mostly for our basement so nobody could see in when we were gone. The curtains we bought were too long and so Andy had a brilliant idea of cutting them in half and using the bottom portion in our upstairs office. The sun can be uber bright and it likes to hit us directly in the eyes, so it seemed we had found a solution.

But...we didn't cut them straight, and for some reason Andy thinks that the decorated side of the curtains should be facing out...hence the color being faced out in the first two pictures. I was super lazy and didn't do anything about it until now.

See the raw edges? Not attractive!

Blurry pictures cause I had to use our old camera...Andy had the other one out skiing and I didn't want to wait! You get the idea though.

 I had this really nice upholstery fabric that I got at a garage sale last year...I used some of it to cover a foot rest. It was a perfect color match and added some weight to the bottom of the curtains. I just straight stitched it on and...voila!

  Much better yes? It also helps that I turned the curtains around to the right way....he didn't even notice until I pointed it out! But he does like it!

I got the sewing bug last night and I also made this strap for my friend Chelsea. Chels is expecting her first baby...a little girl! I saw this strap on this blog. And I thought it was such a great idea! What it does is turn any blanket a mother has on hand into a nursing cover.

She simply has to clip the strap to a blanket...put it around her neck....instant nursing cover!

I ended up putting a bow on the end of hers...it was super simple and I hope she'll get lots of use out of it!

All the materials I used today I had in my craft room...
