Crafty Bonanza Day 14....RRRR you ready?

As I've perused different blogs, I almost always come across some initial that has been wrapped in twine or yarn and then hung kinda like a wreath. Always thinking I can do things my own way...and cheaper I might add...so I attempted to do an initial, but instead of wrapping it in yarn or string, I opted for...felted wool! Who woulda thunk right?
I cut my last name initial out of cardboard, actually doubling it so it would be sturdier. I then took a sweater that didn't really make great mittens and wrapped it around. I didn't have enough so I found another sweater and added it to the top. This is the result:
I don't think it turned out to bad...but I think if I were to do it again I would make it a little smaller...it's pretty big. I also think I would pick a different sweater to use as my wrapper...I think i would like it better if it was a consolodated color, or come to think of it, more of a contrast.

The flower is one I had made this past summer and I threw it on to dress up the "R". I really like the flower on the initial...it works:)
You know what the best part of this whole craft? It was FREE...I paid for nothing to make it and used things I already had around the house:)

Has anybody else tried something similar?

Happy Sewing!

Sarah

  2. It's way cheaper!! You'll have to post the finished product when you're done.
